The history of the World Environment Congress (WEC) and World
Environment Day (WED) date back to 5 June 1972 when the first such
Congress was organised with a view to making the World Citizenry aware
regarding the need for protecting our Mother Earth. Inaugurated by
different Ministers, Policymakers, Bureaucrats, Technocrats, Diplomats
etc., the World Environment Congress is the main function of
Environmentalists in the World. With the help of the themes and the sub
themes, the World Environment Congress discusses important issues
related to environment.
Since then such congresses and conventions have been organised every
year in India as well as in different countries under the dynamic
leadership of the President of the World Environment Congress as well as
the Chancellor of The Global Open University Nagaland and the Indira
Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University, Arunachal Pradesh
and a great institution builder Dr. Priya Ranjan Trivedi.
The 2013 World Environment Congress and 41st World Environment Day have
been organised to be held in the Auditorium of India International

June 2013 with the theme “ThinklEatlSave”. This is an anti-food waste
