The history of the World Environment Congress (WEC) and World Environment Day (WED) date back to 5 June 1972 when the first such Congress was organised with a view to making the World Citizenry aware regarding the need for protecting our Mother Earth. Inaugurated by different Ministers, Policymakers, Bureaucrats, Technocrats, Diplomats etc., the World Environment Congress is the main function of Environmentalists in the World. With the help of the themes and the sub themes, the World Environment Congress discusses important issues related to environment.
